Thwarted

Tuesday was a one-step-forward two-steps-back sort of day. I had managed to cull our belongings and assemble items (clothes, toys, books) with which we are ready to part. I carefully boxed them and stacked them on the porch, staging them for their launch to their new homes. I was very pleased with myself!

Then I heard the weather report: rain and 50-60 mph winds. As much as I wish to be rid of these things, having them scattered along the street and on our neighbors’ lawns is not the right way to part with them. Reluctantly I carried them all back into my home. I sequestered the load in one corner of the basement but still cringed at the thought of them being back under our roof.
