The 30 Minute Scramble

That last 30 minutes or so before the kids get off the school bus are often unproductive. I find myself waiting for them to arrive and reluctant to start something new since I know I will soon be interrupted.

I am going to try something new.

Instead of spending that time checking my email or emptying the dishwasher (something they could take care of once they arrive!) I am going to use that time for speed cleaning. There are certain cleaning tasks I hate to do: scrubbing the bathroom, cleaning the stove top, dusting the bookshelves. Okay, most cleaning I hate to do. But if I were to tackle it in small well-defined chunks, I bet I could make it happen.

They take the bus home 3-4 afternoons a week. That means I could have up to two hours of cleaning time in small manageable doses. Even I can tolerate that!

It is as if our bathrooms are sparkling already.
